A complete ballistic lining for live-fire rooms: fixed and movable walls, ceiling, floor, acoustics and viewing glass. Each system is specified to work with the others, so rounds are held, fragments are collected and noise stays within limits.

// Why a system

Four hazards, one lining

Live fire indoors creates four problems at once. No single panel solves all of them, which is why the room is specified system by system.

Ricochet

Walls and modular partitions face the room with 50 mm of hot-moulded rubber over a steel backing, designed to hold a round in the panel instead of returning it into the room.

Systems 01, 02, 04

Fragments

Wall panels stop 25 mm short of the floor. That gap collects fragments and is covered with an anti-ricochet rubber barrier; the crumb-rubber floor captures the rest.

Systems 01, 02, 04

Noise

Acoustic wall panels and a 100 mm rubber-wood ceiling composite target an internal sound level of 80 dB or less during 7.62 mm and 5.56 mm live fire.

Systems 03, 05

Observation

Viewing windows use 40 mm borosilicate and polycarbonate glazing rated EN 1063 BR6 / NIJ Level III, set in powder-coated MS frames.

// Technical specification

Specification by system

Supply and installation requirements for each ballistic-resistant facility component. Panel modules are 500 × 500 mm unless stated.

Every section strip below is drawn on the same millimetre scale, so thicknesses compare directly.

System 01

Fixed wall
panels

500 × 500 × 130 mm

Composite rubber and steel lining for the room's existing RCC walls, designed to stop bullet ricochet and fragmentation at the strike face.

Rubber layer
50 mmShredded, hot-moulded, bonded rubber
Laminated wood
18 mmLaminated wood layer
Air vent structure
50 mmMS tubular structure for ventilation
Steel backing

Protective coating
1–2 mmPyrite-based protective coating
Tolerance
±5 mm

Installation

  • Anchored to existing RCC walls using MS-framed structural supports
  • Chemical resin-based anchor rods: M16 × 190 mm, galvanised grade 5.8 bolts
  • 25 mm gap kept between floor and the panel's bottom edge for bullet fragment collection
  • Floor gap covered with anti-ricochet rubber barriers

PerformanceComplies with ballistic evaluation standards for close-combat training environments.

System 02

Modular wall
systems

500 × 500 × 250 mm

Movable close-combat panels with protection on both faces, so the room can be reconfigured for each drill without losing ballistic cover.

Installation

  • Mounted on an MS-framed base structure with adjustable locking wheels
  • 25 mm clearance kept above the floor for fragment collection
  • Configured on site to match training requirements
System 03

Ceiling
systems

95 mm + 100 mm linings

Two linings work together overhead: a ballistic base layer anchored to the truss, and a rubber-wood composite above it for noise and vibration.

// General requirements

From sample to sign-off

Every installation follows the same sequence, with testing before bulk work and inspection after it.

  1. Site specification

Layout, anchoring and fixings are set against site-specific requirements and the engineer's specification.

  2. Sample testing

Quality assurance testing on representative samples before any bulk installation begins.

  3. Installation

All fixings and anchors are certified for load-bearing and ballistic applications.

  4. Inspection

Mandatory post-installation inspection verifies structural integrity and ballistic protection.

All materials must conform to the stated ballistic evaluation standards.
